Article 15: Residence and calculation of periods

Chapter Two: Acquisition of Turkish Citizenship

(1) For a foreigner, residence means living in Türkiye in compliance with Turkish laws. A foreigner applying to acquire Turkish citizenship may stay outside Türkiye for a total period not exceeding twelve months during the residence period required for the application. Periods spent outside Türkiye shall be taken into account within the residence periods provided for in this Law.

MADDE 15 · İkamet ve sürelerin hesaplanması

(1) Bir yabancı için ikamet, Türk kanunlarına uygun olarak Türkiye'de oturmaktır. Türk vatandaşlığını kazanma talebinde bulunan bir yabancı başvuru için aranan ikamet süresi içinde toplam oniki ayı geçmemek üzere Türkiye dışında bulunabilir. Türkiye dışında geçirilen süreler bu Kanunda öngörülen ikamet süreleri içinde değerlendirilir.
