(1) The purpose of this Law is to regulate matters concerning the taking of measures, in conformity with the public interest, that protect the health, safety and economic interests of consumers, compensate their losses, ensure their protection against environmental hazards, and inform and raise the awareness of consumers, as well as encouraging consumers' initiatives to protect themselves and promoting voluntary organisation in the formulation of policies on these matters.

MADDE 1 · Amaç
(1) Bu Kanunun amacı; kamu yararına uygun olarak tüketicinin sağlık ve güvenliği ile ekonomik çıkarlarını koruyucu, zararlarını tazmin edici, çevresel tehlikelerden korunmasını sağlayıcı, tüketiciyi aydınlatıcı ve bilinçlendirici önlemleri almak, tüketicilerin kendilerini koruyucu girişimlerini özendirmek ve bu konulardaki politikaların oluşturulmasında gönüllü örgütlenmeleri teşvik etmeye ilişkin hususları düzenlemektir.
