(1) The General Directorate shall be authorised to convert to the Gregorian calendar year the dates of civil status events of citizens recorded in the Hijri or Rumi calendar according to the civil registry records and to enter them in the family registers, and to complete the missing elements of the dates of birth of those whose month and day of birth are unknown.
(2) In calculating the age of persons whose year of birth is recorded but whose month and day of birth are not recorded, the first day of July of the year of birth shall be taken as the starting point, and for those whose month is recorded but whose day is unknown, the first day of that month shall be taken as the starting point.

MADDE 39 · Tarihlerde düzeltme ve tamamlama yetkisi
(1) Genel Müdürlük, nüfus kayıtlarına göre vatandaşların hicrî veya rumî tarihle yazılmış nüfus olaylarının tarihlerini miladî yıla çevirerek aile kütüklerine geçirmeye, doğum tarihlerinin ay ve günü belli olmayanların da eksikliklerini tamamlamaya yetkilidir.
(2) Doğum tarihlerinde doğum yılı yazılıp, doğum ayı ve günü yazılmamış olanların yaşlarının hesaplanmasında doğduğu yılın Temmuz ayının birinci günü, ayı yazılıp da günü belli olmayanlar için de o ayın birinci günü başlangıç olarak alınır.
