Article 26: Documents of renunciation of Turkish citizenship

Chapter Three: Loss of Turkish Citizenship

(1) Among persons requesting permission to renounce Turkish citizenship in order to acquire the citizenship of a foreign state, those whose requests are found appropriate shall be issued a Turkish citizenship renunciation permit certificate by the Ministry; persons who document that they have acquired the citizenship of a foreign state as a result of the permission granted or previously shall be issued a Turkish citizenship renunciation certificate.

(2) The renunciation permit certificate is valid for two years from the date of the decision. Persons who receive the permit certificate are obliged, within this period, to submit information and documents showing that they have acquired the citizenship of the foreign state to the governorship of the place of residence if within the country, or to the foreign missions if abroad. If the citizenship of the foreign state cannot be acquired within the period, the renunciation permit certificate becomes invalid.
