Article 27: Validity and consequences of renunciation of Turkish citizenship

Chapter Three: Loss of Turkish Citizenship

(1) Turkish citizenship is lost upon delivery of the renunciation certificate to the person concerned against signature. The records of persons who have lost Turkish citizenship in the civil family registers shall be closed and they shall be treated as foreigners as of the date of loss.

(2) Amended: 6/12/2019, Law No. 7196, Art. 63 The loss of Turkish citizenship by one of the spouses by obtaining a renunciation permit does not affect the citizenship of the other spouse. Where the mother or father losing Turkish citizenship so requests and the other parent also consents, their children shall also lose Turkish citizenship together with them. Where consent is not given, action shall be taken in accordance with the decision of the judge.

(3) If the loss of citizenship would render the children stateless, the provisions of this Article shall not apply.

MADDE 27 · Türk vatandaşlığından çıkmanın geçerliliği ve sonuçları

(1) Çıkma belgesinin ilgiliye imza karşılığı teslimi ile Türk vatandaşlığı kaybedilir. Türk vatandaşlığını kaybeden kişilerin nüfus aile kütüklerindeki kayıtları kapatılır ve kayıp tarihinden itibaren yabancı muamelesine tabi tutulurlar.

(2) (Değişik:6/12/2019-7196/63 md.) Eşlerden birinin çıkma izni almak suretiyle Türk vatandaşlığını kaybetmesi diğer eşin vatandaşlığına tesir etmez. Türk vatandaşlığını kaybeden ana ya da babanın talebinin bulunması ve diğer ebeveynin de muvafakat etmesi halinde çocukları da kendileri ile birlikte Türk vatandaşlığını kaybederler. Muvafakat verilmemesi halinde hakim kararına göre işlem yapılır.

(3) Vatandaşlığın kaybı, çocukları vatansız kılacak ise bu madde hükümleri uygulanmaz.
