Article 11: Obligation to register

Part Two: Conduct of Civil Registration Services › Chapter Three: Principles Concerning the Keeping of Civil Registers

(1) Every person who is a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye is obliged to have himself or herself entered in the civil registers and to obtain an identity card by applying to the civil registry directorate in Türkiye or to the diplomatic or consular mission abroad. The parents or guardians or curators of minors, or, in their absence, persons having the children in their care and the officials of organisations authorised by the Law on the Social Services and Child Protection Agency No. 2828 dated 24/5/1983, are responsible for having the civil status events of minors registered and obtaining their identity cards.

(2) Persons who subsequently acquire Turkish citizenship shall also be entered in the civil register as of the date on which they acquire citizenship.

MADDE 11 · Tescil mecburiyeti

(1) Türkiye Cumhuriyeti vatandaşı olan her kişi yurt içinde nüfus müdürlüğüne, yurt dışında dış temsilciliğe müracaatla kendisini nüfus kütüklerine yazdırmaya ve kimlik kartı almaya mecburdur. Ergin olmayanların nüfus olaylarını yazdırıp kimlik kartlarını almaya veli, vasi veya kayyımları, bunların bulunmaması halinde, çocukları yanlarında bulunduranlar ile 24/5/1983 tarihli ve 2828 sayılı Sosyal Hizmetler ve Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumu Kanununun yetkili kıldığı kuruluş yetkilileri görevlidirler.

(2) Türk vatandaşlığını sonradan kazanmış olanlar da vatandaşlığı kazandıkları tarihten itibaren nüfus kütüğüne geçirilir.
